Any one with a viral wheeze sufferer?

Hi all.

My DS(3.4) was diagnosed with a viral wheeze in October. Since then he's had a number of incidents, three of which after the initial overnight admission have needed hospital treatment. We seem to be able to manage it at home most times but sometimes not.

I'm getting so frustrated, I feel so awful for Lo as he'll just wake up with the wheeze or wake in the night with it. No prewarning and not every time he has a cold or bug.

I'm not sure why I'm posing tbh. Currently sat in the children's ward again after having a couple of good weeks with once again a wheezey and coughing child.

Am I alone? Anyone got any good ideas about how to get him to take the prodisanole?

Am I unreasonable to get frustrated and stressed by it?

I have. He's a bit older now (5) but still gets it ( is in the throws of a wheezey period today). It's horrible. I was really hard with him and he had to take the inhaler ( even if I was having to hold him down) he still has days when he doesn't want it. I find I am getting better at spotting the triggers ( really snotty nose) and start with the preventer inhaler then which seems to minimise the attacks.

Try using pure honey( no added sure and not a blend of EC and non EC honey) and thyme tea. It worked for us.

Yes I feel your pain. We started on the Montelukast last Sept and had amazing results all winter...but now the cough is back - perhaps exacerbated by the tree pollen who knows?. Its exasperating. I have no magic cure but he has gotten a bit more robust now she's 6 if that's any consolation

We were the same until last week, 5th overnight hospital visit in a year, steroids and nebs didn't work. Ended up with a magnesium drip and a three night stay on oxygen. Finally we have a diagnosis of asthma and a preventive inhaler.
I really hope that was our last A&E visit.
