She is 21 months. She has chicken pox two weeks ago they started coming out the have all scabbed over.

Majority have started to disappear. This evening she has a random high temp 38.3 I have given calpol. She has been happy all day not eating much but seemed happy. Drinking lots.

About 5.30 she became really upset .

She seems happy now and drinking bottle but still really high temp, it won't come down at all

Any ideas ???

You don't need to give calpol for a temperature unless she's miserable or in pain, and a temperature of 38 certainly isn't a reason to go to a&e. Let her sleep. Make sure she's drinking and weeing enough. Don't keep her awake unnecessarily.

Hope you had a good night op. It sounds as though your little one had a mild fever and was generally happy (if a bit tired)? I understand the panic with temperatures (my son has had febrile seizures), but really it doesn't sound as though there's much to worry about. Fever at that level is your friend as it's fighting off the virus (or any other opportunistic infections), and, if your child is generally happy, you don't need to treat it at all. Just make sure she gets plenty of fluids and rest, and give Calpol if she becomes really unhappy. As others have said, it's not the number on the thermometer that matters when assessing an ill child, it's things like how happy they are, whether they become really lethargic (not rousible or really out of it - some tiredness is to be expected), and signs of dehydration (no wet nappies etc).

Well she had a very restless night.

No different this morning. She ate a small banana around 9 and refusing everything else. She had 3oz of milk and a sippy cup of ribena. Her temp is 38.5 with calpol

She is very upset so she is napping on sofa at moment and gonna go down walk in centre this afternoon. She is not happy at all
