Did all those appear at once?! Are they like blisters?

user1488746273 · 05/03/2017 20:57

Yep all within 24 hours, not really like blisters but very lumpy. He had his jabs almost 2 weeks ago but not sure if that's anything to do with it...

I'm pretty sure chicken pox come up blistery.

welshweasel · 05/03/2017 20:59

Difficult to say from a picture but it could be a reaction to the measles jab, usually seen 6-10 days after though so it's a bit late. Doesn't look like chicken pox to me.

Haggisfish · 05/03/2017 21:00

I don't think so but am not a dr. Would go to gp asap.

My daughter had bad eczema and the first time she had c.p it was only on her legs and was initially a bit like that but in a smaller area. Should be blistery soon if it is c.p.

StorminaBcup · 05/03/2017 21:03

There's a guide here. Like pp said they have a fluid filled blister on the pox mark if it's chicken pox.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll get him to a gp in the morning if it stays like this. His face is also covered but they're merging into huge red cheeks

Doesn't look much like chicken pox to me, but hard to see on pics.

Have a look here and go to see GP just in case unless other symptoms develop or worsen then phone 111.

123bananas · 05/03/2017 21:10

Could be scarlet fever with the red cheeks.

Ivydalegirl · 05/03/2017 21:10

My two young grandchildren have just recovered from chicken pox and it didn't look anything like that. Best to check with gp tomorrow or ask the pharmacist for advice. Hope baby is on the mend very soon.

datingbarb · 05/03/2017 21:16

Hmmm not sure if they all appeared that fast usually it's one or two spots to start

My dd had cp at 6 months on the thurs she had 2 tiny spots (like bites) on back of neck, thought nothing more of it until the Sunday when we were in Tesco and I brushed my head across head and noticed she had about 6 really big blisters, the spots then started to appear over the next few days.

Is your DC unwell ? I would definitely get seen by gp in morning

user1488746273 · 05/03/2017 21:17

Yeah maybe Scarlett fever or slapped cheek syndrome? He's only just over tonsillitis as well poor thing. Docs in the morning

DS had slapped cheek recently, and the rash started on his legs and torso. The red cheeks came afterwards.

user1488746273 · 05/03/2017 21:18

Doesn't seem unwell. Upset tummy but happy, active, eating etc

123bananas · 05/03/2017 21:26

Also Henoch-Schonlein Purpura is a possibility.

picklemepopcorn · 05/03/2017 21:43

Happy is only on the buttocks and legs I think.

picklemepopcorn · 05/03/2017 21:43

Whoops. HSP

user1488746273 · 06/03/2017 12:50

Right, seen the doc. Antibiotics for strep throat but the rash is confusing them...

OP posts:
123bananas · 06/03/2017 21:23

Glad you got him seen. Strep throat rash is known as Scarlet fever, so maybe it is this?

Twopeapods · 06/03/2017 21:29

Was it the MMR?
My DD2 had a rash 2 weeks after and it looked like this but not quite as severe. She was also very unwell with it. Very high temp. Doc said that the jab can sometimes give them mild measles, although that is the worst she has ever been. But the rash looks very similar.

user1488746273 · 08/03/2017 16:59

Yep scarlet fever - poor kid! Antibiotics seem to be working though phew
