On ds2's thigh in the bath today I noticed this.

Any ideas what it is?

Looks a bit like ringworm?

elephantoverthehill · 01/01/2017 15:08

I would say ringworm.

Hercules12 · 01/01/2017 15:08

Ring worm?

Ringworm?

Ringworm

Hercules12 · 01/01/2017 15:09

I would go to pharmacy when open and show them so can get cream.

Pollyanna9 · 01/01/2017 15:09

Ringworm. Very contagious.

Cover it with a plaster and then go get the appropriate cream from the GP. It's nothing to worry about though, it'll soon go.

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2017 15:11

I agree-ringworm or possibly impetigo. Could be quite contagious if the latter, so best to get it seen asap.

These things always happen out of hours don't they?

Nicketynac · 01/01/2017 15:24

Do you have Canesten or Daktarin in the house? (Or any thrush or athlete's foot cream) That's what GP or pharmacy will give you. Apply it two or three times daily and it will start to improve in a few days. You don't need to cover it once you are treating it but wash hands and towels carefully.

Nicketynac · 01/01/2017 15:26

Impetigo usually has a yellow crust or yellow watery discharge which you can't see in this pic but it might have washed off in the bath so have another look later once her skin is totally dry. You need antibiotics for impetigo.

Maudlinmaud · 01/01/2017 15:28

I had this a few months back. I.swear to god I thought I was was going to die. Doctor told me it was ringworm. Im prone to over reacting Grin

winkywinkola · 01/01/2017 15:32

Oh thanks all.

It can also be the begining of pityriasis rosea. This looks like a herald patch. If it is, then avoid any shower gels, creams or rubbing the area in any way as moisture makes it spread.

Daisychain2017 · 02/01/2017 04:15

Also agree it could be pityruasis or ringworm. Treat for ringworm and if doesn't improve or more patches appear in the pityriasis pattern then it may be that. We use datakrin (sp?) for ringworm.
