I came across a lump in 2 1/2 year old dd neck on Christmas Eve and have been past myself ever since, I think I'm really struggling with anxiety so that hasn't helped. A relation who works in paediatrics in a&e checked it out and said it was a lymph node but dd isn't I'll with a cold or anything. Dh has had dd to gp this morning just to put my mind at ease and she said lymph node she could be fighting something off and to go back if it isn't gone in 2-3 weeks. This should have put my fears to bed but I'm such a worrier please somebody talk some sense in to me have you had a similar experience?

Or the other option is to maybe go private and pay to see a dr if you can afford it - they can often do extra tests and have a bit more time to really assess her.

Sorry my posts are a bit confusing basically you need to treat your anxiety AND also make sure she is ok.
I was accused many times of being an anxious mum but it turned out I wasn't and my child was sick all along so I guess I'm saying is listen to your gut.

I have got myself in to a panic over many things in the past so yes I guess I do worry to the extremes, that said I will still keep an eye on her and take her back if I'm still worried. She's under the weather with the cold but otherwise she's fine eating, sleeping ok and plenty of energy. I wish I could just enjoy her and not worry so much!

Sounds like a good plan.

I noticed this on my ds (4) a few months back and, like you, I was really worried. It's still there. He's seen the Dr twice and I've spoken to my hv and it's apparently normal - doesn't stop me checking it and worrying though. It's still the same and not changed in shape and size. It's so hard to tell too when they're so small, it's a constant sniffle, cold, cough etc!

I've had swollen lymph nodes on one side (neck and groin) ever since I was a child. School nurse said she has the same thing! I'm 33 now and never had any problems Smile

It's so reassuring to hear of other little ones having the same thing! I can't help checking all the time which isn't a good idea at the moment as she's still full of cold. I had her to the gp this morning as she has a nasty cough and I mentioned it again while we were there, it was a different gp this time and he had a good feel and just casually said it's a lymph node it's nothing to worry about. I of course then fired a hundred questions at him Blush he said he would only begin to bat an eyelid if there were nodes coming up in lots of different areas.I guess I've really got to try and relax about it-easier said than done!

Hello.
Im in the similar boat as you are,my 3 year old has a palpable cervical lymph node since october its palpable not visible,i took him to his pediatrician and he just brushed it off by saying that i could feel it because his neck was slim he also checked his throat which was fine, though its just one node on one side, its the same since then no other symptoms.i usually think about it and also consulted another pediatrician she was also not concerned and said that palpable swollen nodes with no other symptoms are common in children at this age.
