Flu Vaccine - stupid question

onedayimightforget · 02/12/2016 21:05

This is probably a stupid question but if you don't ask you never find out.

The children's flu vaccine (nasal spray) is a live vaccine. DD1 (2 yo) has been given the injection (de-activated) as she is in an at risk group. On another thread someone said that if a child is close to someone in at at risk group they could be given the injection so they aren't given the live vaccine. But surely those people in the at risk group would (should) have had their flu jab so someone close to them having the live vaccine shouldn't matter.

My question is, does the injection provide enough protection? Especially given the live vaccine is supposed to be more effective.

Sorry, I should have added that she goes to nursery so she is around other children who, presumably, have the live vaccine.
