Docs or not?

Would you book an emergency GP appointment for this tomorrow?

9mo Ds has had diarrhoea for a week now (no sickness). Absolutely fine in himself, no temp, peeing and crying tears etc so not dehydrated (loves his water!) but is having very explosive and disgusting nappies 6-8 times a day, his normal is once every 2 days or so.

I'm not worried about him persay but don't know if I should take him to the GP, it just feels like a waste of everyone's time as from past experience all they do is check for dehydration and say to come back in x days time.

I put him on the BRAT diet for a few days but no real change, so have let him have some other fairly plain foods today.

Do you think he needs to see a doc? Or have any advice on how to help him clear it up? I feel so helpless for him!

Is he teething? The excessive saliva caused by teething gives some children diarrhoea .

8 episodes are still quite a lot. Did you introduce a new food or new brand recently? You could give him rice to eat and rice water to drink. Rice water is proven very effective in reducing bowel movement in babies. Put one cup of rice in a pan, 6 cups of water . Boil at low heat for 45 min. Strain out the rice, bin it (it is overcooked you cannot eat it) collecting the water in a bowl and let cool. Drink during the day.

Teething can cause this type of issue and as he is otherwise well I wouldn't take him to the GP. Even if it started off as a bug (unlikely without vomiting) loose stools in kids can go on for 2 weeks.
