Hypermobile in hands - next steps

I think my son (age 5, year 1) is hypemobile in his hands can bend thumb back to touch wrist, very bendy fingers, can bend fingers back beyond 90 degrees etc. He doesn't seem particularly hypermobile elsewhere and doesn't complain of any pains anywhere. He is a bit uncoordinated though, struggles to hold a pen properly, and dislikes any sort of drawing or writing (he finds it very tiring). Anyhow, am just wondering what to do should we visit the GP or just mention it to the school, even though it's not diagnosed?

Ask school to refer to the OT for assessment

Ask the senco for a referral. Our school runs something called gym trail, for kids with motor skills issues, both fine and gross. Ds3 goes as he has hypermobile hands (and only hands). Playdough features a lot. We had some OT which really helped. Hiding small beads in theraputty. Pegging clothes out (or socks on to airers etc).

Lovely. Thanks both. Will speak to school about a referral.
