immunisation worries - help!

I've now had both of my dd's admitted to hospital after adverse reactions to immunisations. This week was dd2 who is 13 weeks old, she had stomach pain so bad after 2nd lot of imms that they thought she had an intersussepted bowel. Thankfully it wasn't, they think it was a reaction to the rotavirus oral vaccine. She was screaming in pain and completely inconsolable on and off for 3 days post vaccination, leading to us taking her to a&e on Saturday night. She was admitted and they did loads of distressing tests but thankfully she was ok.
Dd1 (now 4) was quite poorly immediately after the preschool boosters but got better after a few days. However, on the tenth day, when the mmr kicked in, she had severe breathing difficulties, high fever and vomiting. She was taken to hospital via ambulance and had to have oxygen and nebulisers. One year on and she still needs an inhaler now. She had never had any chest issues prior to having the boosters.
So inevitably I am now very worried about dd2's next lot of imms in 4 weeks and no doubt will be worried sick about all other immunisations in the future. I don't know what to do, I'm exhausted after spending the weekend in hospital and beside myself for putting my dd's (and myself and dp) through such trauma.

I have researched considerably but the only conclusion I can reach is that your damned if you do and might be even more damned if you don't.

Perhaps for your dd2 it was the rotavirus. That vaccine didn't exist when my two were babies and having read about it and seen the effects, I have to admit, if I had a baby now, I would not be giving them the rotavirus vaccine. A very baby has its mums immunity and if breastfed, is much less likely to contract gastro bugs.

That ad, I don't mean to make you worry be asue you chose to vaccinate for rotavirus. It's done now but if there is a second dose, I would think twice about letting her have it.

As for the other vaccines in 4 weeks time, if it were me making the choice for my own baby, I think I might hold off for a few extra weeks until she totally recovered from the rota reaction. But you're not me and nobody here can tell you what to do.....and we would feel awful if she were to get ill again.
Has the clinic not advised? Could you call them and ask what alternive ideas they have.....not having it, delaying, testing for allergies etc.

It's so frustrating. I want my kids immunised but I didn't even know about the rotavirus vaccine until we got to the clinic. I felt like it was forced upon us and we didn't get the chance to read up on it. I feel terrible that I put dd2 at risk :(

It was her second dose that she reacted badly too. She was poorly after the first lot too but that was more like a feverish generally unwell thing. Think that was more the men b jab more than anything.
I will make an appointment at the drs and ask their advice.

Not yet. Going to make appointment tomorrow morning.

Don't let yourself feel bad...it really wasn't your fault. There's a lot of pressure from all sides to vaccinate but sometimes just not enough info.

Some children's systems perhaps can't take so many jabs/meds at once. They might be able to devise a programme that is more spaced out.

How was DD1 after her first MMR?

She wasn't too bad after first lot, bit ill but nothing unusual. It seems to be the second doses that cause problems!
