don't understand sons hospital appointment

Hi I've nc due a few reasons.
My ds 6 months had his ent follow up today . To paint a better picture are his last appointment it was said his larynx is floppy and that's why he's been having breathing problems.
Today the doctor said his larynx is only a tad floppy but not massively. She also noticed a hole (she also called it a dent) at his larynx. She has referred him to a speech specialist to talk about his feeding. Then will see her again. She also said there is surgery to stich it but she doesn't want to unless she had to . she didn't leave much time for me to talk just said see you next time so I left with lots of questions. One of them is I've got no idea what's happening. Anyone who has any idea or something would be nice thanks I've also posted in chat

Also the hospital is bad for this .I won't be the first to wonder what's wrong

From what you've said, she's referring him to a speech specialist and then wants to see him again after that.

However, it does sound as if she's rushed you out, do you have questions you would like to have answered before the next appointment? (I'm guessing you've no idea when the next appointment might be). I would be tempted to give the PALS (patient advice and liaison service) at the hospital a ring and say you're confused after the appointment as you don't know what the next step in the treatment is, plus you have the following questions for the doctor - they may be able to get the answers for you.

What I would do is write a list of questions and phone the department. Say you were left with some questions from the appointment and is it easier for her to call you, you make another appointment or email/post the questions.

I would go to my GP, but I trust him enough to know if he didn't know the answer he would ask them for me and get back to me quickly. If you don't have a GP like him then that would just be another place for the questions to disappear into cyberspace.

For what's happening she wants you to see SALT (don't hold your breath for a quick appointment-it's a year roughly round here waiting list) and then she'll relook at him depending on their assessment.
She doesn't think it's bad enough to need surgery, although there is that as an option if SALT can't help/it doesn't improve.
