chicken pox exposure?

Hello mums, I was looking for a general opinion on how much contact is required to catch chicken pox. Have you found it to be more likely after extended play? I'm waiting for our turn but as a stay home mum it's harder to be prepared. Thank you!

I rather like to get it over with by now but I suppose it will happen when it is meant.

15 minutes in the same room as a contagious person is enough to spread it. The incubation period is 10-21 days though so you don't know for a while if it has been passed on. Contagious from 1-2 days before spots appear and until they scab over which is normally about 5-7 days after they appear

Do you mean you're trying to get your DC to get chicken pox? You could get them vaccinated for it instead?

I wouldn't knowingly expose them though. Is that what you are planning?

Oh goodness no! I will not deliberately expose. Sorry, I am surprised he hasn't caught it yet out and about so perhaps it will happen when in classroom environment?

Dd got it at nursery around the age of 3 and passed it on to ds who was about 6 months old at the time.

Has he been near someone with chicken pox then, and you're wondering whether he's likely to have caught it or not?
My DC1 caught it in reception year at school ( unknown source)
DC2 went down with it 2 weeks later.
DC3 wasn't born when the other 2 had it but caught it off a friend we were camping with (outdoors obviously, and in separate tents but still enough contact)

I would say if your DS has been playing with someone who was found to have it, it is likely that he will get it.

Mine seemed to miss it several times when it has been going round before at school or nursery. even when children that they are good friends with got it they seemed to miss it. But now just getting over it.
