She's miserable with them. Uncomfortable and embarrassed now it's summer

Have tried

Bazuka and various freezing gels etc
Banana skin method
Duct tape

Please help.

Doctor says they will "just go" eventually but this is now 2 years and I really feel for her.

Has anyone tried the Swan match tip (just googled it) or the cider vinegar with any positive results?
(And if so how did you do it?)
Have talked about taking her to chiropodist / podiatrist but she doesn't want them burnt off. She's terrified it will hurt and I have heard it's quite painful? She has so many and a couple of them are quite big.

Do you keep repeating the nail varnish, as surely it must wear off??

hp2 · 25/07/2016 07:58

I used bazucca ,once they had a bit of a scab to them a good soak in the bath then picked it out with tweezers!! Bled a bit then gone. Both of my children have had their verrucas removed this way. Bit barbaric but rewarded with chocolate.

I used to get them a lot as a child. I would soak in the bath so went nice and soft then pulled the black bits out with tweezers. However if my mum realised they were there she had me at the doctors for them to be frozen off. It does hurt but only for a few seconds and should be survivable for a 7 year old with a bit of bribing.

I put nail Polish on DS -he chose blue Grin and let it dry. I then put duct tape over the top. Those suckers weren't going to breathe again!

Apple cider vinegar on cotton wool, taped on overnight. After one or two nights, the top of the verruca goes hard like dead skin. This needs scraping or filing away. I used a sharp scalpel but you would have to be very careful if you did this. Keep putting the apple cider vinegar on overnight. And keep going for a few days after you think they have cleared up just to be on the safe side. This took a couple of weeks for some small warts. Took months in the case of my DC who had had veruccas about two years which has steadily got worse despite trying every treatment on sale in the chemist.

Wisewisewords · 25/07/2016 08:08

Just wanted to add that the cider vinegar doesn't seem to hurt or sting and doesn't damage the healthy skin. The over the counter ones we had to keep taking a break from using because it was damaging the skin around the very ca (while still not getting rid of the verruca itselfAngry).

CIder Vinegar morning and night worked on DC1's verucca. It was about a year old when we did this treatment and it took two weeks to get rid of it.

DC1 has a very low pain-threshold and is squeamish to boot so this was the best method we have tried for a pain-free, least intervention solution - she doesn't even cope well with having the top layer scraped off.

Duct tape never worked out for us.

Do you mind me asking what autoimmune condition you have? My daughter has coeliac disease and lots of veruccas. I was just wondering if there was a connection?

A few years ago my son had a verucca and the GP misdiagnosed it as a corn. It was only after we went on holiday for 3 weeks, kind of forgot about it and then checked when we were back to discover it had spread to about 10 on that foot and a couple on the other we realised they were veruccas! We went back to the GP who still advised us to leave them and they will go by themselves within a few months. But they continued to spread. We went to a private chiropodist in the end and she froze them. He had to have two goes to get rid of them all and he did find it a bit stingy but it worked and he’s never had a verucca since.

Not long ago my daughter also got one and on the advice of a friend who works in essential oils, I used pure oregano oil on it. I dabbed it on every morning and evening for about 3 weeks and it disappeared. It seemed to do nothing for about 2 weeks and then all of a sudden it started to shrink and then it was gone really quickly.
