Chicken pox and eczema!

Hi, just wondered if anyone had any advice regarding use of emollients during chicken pox? Have googled and can't find any info. DS has had severe eczema in the past, skin is now mostly clear but still apply emollients regularly to keep on top of it. Chicken pox has been gong round school and this evening it looks like he's got it. What do you reckon I should do? Keep applying emmolients as usual or try calamine/something else? I could give him the antihistamine we keep for his eczema if he gets super itchy? Any other general advice re chicken pox? He's 7 by the way.

I've been given some aqueous cream with chamomile for DD. It's helping.

I've also ordered some poxcilin from Amazon.

DDs pox started in her eczema so poor baby is super itchy.

One of the worst creams for eczema is aqueous.

Try Boots own brand Itch Relief cream, Lush Dream Cream or Aveeno, they are the only ones I can use on my 5yr old.

Thank you, lush and aveeno are both awful for his skin (I know they are great for some but he reacts badly) which is why I was wondering about his usual emollients.

I would keep going with the usual emmolients. We used Poxclin instead of the emmolients during DSs chicken pox but it was really bad for his eczema and his skin is now much worse than it was before pox. So I'd recommend Emmolients, piriton and calpol (seemed to help with the itching as it helped keep his temp down).

Just seen your reply sore thank you. He is completely covered in them today and have been using calpol and antihistamine as you say. Definitely helping. Also been using virasoothe which was recommended to me by another mum, chicken pox is going round our school!
So far I have avoided emmolients but can see his skin is beginning to flare so am planning a cool bath with usual emollient in to see if that helps. Two itchy conditions, not good!
