Chickenpox - am I housebound now?!

How much can I do with my child? I know that I have to keep her off school, but what about the grocery store, bank, etc? I have errands I NEED to do, and my in laws are visiting - do I just leave them to do their touristy things on their own? :(

You need to stay away from public areas as you could pass it on to people with cancer etc or immunosupressed people which could make them really ill.

so... yes. At least my child is housebound :( pants.

(I'll probably take her to the park next week when she's perky and all the rest of the children should have gone back to school- hopefully that's not an inappropriate risk to take?)

Keep away from public until all the spots have scabbed over (usually 5-7 days).

Online shopping, TV, iPad, play in the garden if up to it.

Will pils babysit while you do errands? Or ask them to pick up shopping etc when out and about.

Don't go to a park until she has fully scabbed over.

Also poses a serious risk to pregnant ladies - I found out I wasn't immune to chicken pox when I was 6 months pregnant, I spent the rest of the pregnancy petrified every time I saw a spotty child running around the supermarket or playgrounds (of which there were surprisingly a lot). Some people don't care - well done for taking it seriously!

If your park is a playing field, you take your own ball and you go at a time (like 6 in the morning) when there won't be other people about, then you won't be posing a risk. Ditto other secluded places.

Yes, your visiting ILs will need to go sightseeing by themselves, and could possibly carry out errands for you. And babysit whilst you go to the bank.
