Dd who is 3.5 has started movical yesterday.

I thought it was a urine infection at first but the tests have come back clear. Dd has been complaining of back ache and tummy ache for around 3 weeks.

She had been fine within herself apart from the tummy and back ache.

Doctor advised over the phone yesterday that she is most likely constipated due to urine coming back clear.

Has prescribed movical in sachet formula to be taken once a day but can be taken up to 4 times a day.

She had a dose last night after nursery and has two doses today. Very small amount of poo has passed.

Dd has been complaining of pain in the tummy and back more than ever today. Shes very whingy, wanting lots of cuddles and not eating much and feels quite warm to touch.

Any advice very much appreciated

Also she has only recently toilet trained within the last 3 months and is dry day and night from the last 2.5 months.

But she holds her urine for quite sometime to say she is a toddler. She doesnt get up in the night, will have a wee at 8pm then when she gets up in the morning sometimes she doesnt have her morning wee until she has been awake approx an hour. She holds her wee for around 4-5 hours during the day.

i thought toddlers were suppose to go alot more regular with them having small bladders?

Gp didnt seem concerned that she could hold her urine that long but one of the nursery staff said she had known toddlers to hold their wee for quite come time when they are constipated.

I think she needs to see a doctor not a nurse and soon - 3 weeks is far too long to be in pain and the constipation may be a side effect rather than the actual cause of what's going on.

I'd get a medical opinion, but ds was on movicol for impaction and he had two sachets a day for a month. It seemed to sort him out and his poo was definitely sloppy when clearing out! He withholds every time he's at nursery. It's a nightmare. I took him to see the doctor originally due to constant accidents/smears in pants.
