is scabbed over chicken pox no longer contagious?

Hello,

My poor son has had the pox over half term so we haven't been out all week!

They're starting to scab over now and really need to take him out but MIL said he could still be infectious??

If anyone has experience of this can they advise if I am OK to take my son out? Otherwise it will be baking/painting for the 5 th day in a row ...

When they're all scabbed over you're safe. Thanks for keeping him in to protect the babies and immunosuppressed

Every single one has to be scabbed, once that happens you're fine.

It's from when they're all scabbed and dried, not just some of them.

But if you're going stir crazy, and he's well enough for a little outing, then either go very early in the morning to local playing fields for a run around. Or load up in a car and go somewhere secluded.

That's great news - I have checked and they're all scabbed!

We're going to head out for a walk but we will still avoid the park for another day or so
