Last night I took a few pics of my 11 month old. His right eye pupil looks red and normal. His left was showings a white reflection. So I took a lot more pics and it showed up in a lot more pics!!!! Now I am freaked out and I'm sitting here 5am worrying my self!! My dr surgery opens at 8:30am. Has anyone been through this???

Optometrists are based in opticians eg. Boots, Specsavers, local independent ones

Thanx I have emailed a couple in my area

Go to your local optician . My dd had a similar thing but one eye was more yellow/orange, it was just to do with a turn in her eye/angle of photo. Have you taken any where both eyes are red with a flash? X

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 03/02/2016 19:36

honestly it is usually a reflection of the optic disc catching the flash because of the angle of gaze

of course get it checked, and I'd certainly ask around for any recommendations for an optician/optometrist who is good with little ones.

My ds had this too and like a poster above, it was to do with a turn in his eye. Try not to think the worst, I know that is so hard to do, but it is most likely nothing to worry about.

My daughter had a routine appointment at boots where they found swelling at the back of her eye-they were brilliant with us and she had her referral and mri scan within a week. Luckily everything was fine for her, but it's amazing what can be picked up by the optician.
Good luck x

Yea I have pics of both eyes red also. Everywhere I have emailed is children ages 5 plus!! So I can sit and wait for my referral ot head off to an emergency eye clinic in my area at the hospital. My head feels mashed and can't stop worrying!!

We have an emergency eye clinic near us and I'm sure you turn up just like A&E?
If it brings answers sooner and puts your mind at rest I would do that x

Nikki2ol6 · 04/02/2016 14:43

Yea it says most people get refered from the GP but you can just turn up and wait.... There is a number so I may give them a quick call and explain how desperate I am for a second opinion

Tesco optician saw my dd as did boots and a local private optician too. I was v concerned as she had this as well as a turn in her eye tgat appeared suddenly. It turned out to be nothing major, just a turn in her eye and need for glasses.

Nikki2ol6 · 05/02/2016 12:13

I have been for the second opinion. It was much better! They put drops in to make his pupil go large, The room was dark. The doctor had a head set thing on with different coloured lights and hard a magnifying glass. There is no mass in the eye!! So I am thrilled about this and feel more relaxed now. However something is not quite right but he can't say. It could be a simple refractive error which would means he needs glasses in tbe future.... Or he may for some reason not see as well in that eye than he used to. So he has sent a referal for a more detailed exam of the back of the eye rather than just in the eye itself. This is all done at the hospital so i am so pleased I got that second opinion

Yea u feel better. It's the best thing I could do was have it looked at again. Because all that dr basically said was it looks OK to me (after a 5second look of an 11month old jumping around) I don't know why you have all these pics of a white pupil I can't explain it. But that will be all....... I couldn't relax after that and my health visitor was great referring us but that would take weeks.
