I will try keep this as simple as possible.

DD is 3 and has been coughing, hot, working hard to breathe and off her food since Friday.
We saw her consultant 2 days ago (we were due to see them for a routine check up anyway) he saw how poorly she looked and did all the usual checks, listening to chest, checking oxygen levels and noted how exhausted and pale she looked.

He said she has a chest infection and is very wheezy, prescribed 2 weeks of co amoxiclav and 6 days of prednisalone soluble tablets and commenced her back on her long term antibiotics which she had previously been off for 6 months.

So far she has had 2 days worth of usual antibiotics and prednisalone (which she has never had before) how ever she is still working a little hard, wheezy, coughing every time she talks, sounds worn out, hasn't slept properly in 3 nights because of the cough and generally emotional and lethargic.
How long do you usually need to give it for the medication to kick in?

Usually she bounces back fairly quick but has only ever had chest infections/pneumonia before and never a wheeze so I am not really sure what is normal and what's not....

Any advice would be much aprichiated :)

Also forgot to add, she had a temperature, was coughing, working a little hard to breathe and could hear her wheeze without a stethoscope when we saw the consultant and he didn't seem overly concerned because her oxygen levels were ok I'm guessin, so didn't want to rush into our GP without giving things time to work.

I'd take her back tbh. if it's viral the anti biotic won't help. she may need a nebuliser. maybe even a little bit of support like a drip or something. do you have a walk on clinic? call the Dr back and get her seen

poor thing Flowers

How is your daughter now?

Will your GP see her today? She sounds like she needs to be seen.

She is still having temperatures and her respitory rate is still high, will see how she is through the night and if she isn't any better will phone GP first thing am. She sounds awful while asleep though so not holding much hope.
