Dd age 3, growing pains and/or vit D deficiency?

Dd has had these for a year or so now. The GP said not to worry unless she complains of pain in the day. Last night was a bad one, writhing around in pain but settled eventually after calpol.
She does tend to say her legs are tired and refuse to walk but seems to walk when distracted/motivated so I think that's probably three year old stuff but did wonder about vitamin D after reading old threads on here so I am going to get some vitamins today-do I need anything in particular? I know Dds will both take the chewy sweet type ones but do I need to be looking for any type of vitamin does anyone know ?
Or maybe I should be taking her to the dr ... Too tired to decide!

If her vitamin D is low then (assuming it's the same as for adults) she will need much bigger doses to boost it again than just the standard amounts that a multivitamin has. How was she over the summer when presumably she was getting a reasonable amount of sun exposure?

Healthy Start Vitamins are given free to low income families at healthcare centres. They have the NHS logo on them. You can also buy them at Superdrug

Sorry just seen these replies! Thank you both , I bought a multi vitamin in the end and she's taking them and actually sleeps a bit better but could be coincidence !
Over summer I don't think there was a difference but will see what DH thinks as it's hard to remember. Good point.

i would poss seek medical advice if its still going on my son always complained of having painful legs or too tired to walk etc also but in my sons case he been diganosed of having extremely tight hamstrings somthing he was born with and is never going to get much better but he required physio to losen thema bit and has to keep doing exercises him self or they just tighten up again

VegetablEsoup · 26/11/2015 17:36

according to the orth consultant we see, there is no such thing as growing pains.
in my dc's case it turned out to be an inflammatory disease...

tired legs after an unusually busy day are ok but what you should look out for are

  • pain more one sided than both sides
  • swelling
  • areas warmer to touch than the surround
  • unusual pale or red skin colour

Thank you both.
She has always been reluctant to walk but I always wonder about her feet as she had overlapping toes till quite recently . She also seems fine when interested /motivated by something iyswim.
We saw the GP a while back who wasn't concerned but maybe should go back if it carries on. She seems to get restless legs and is fidgeting away next to me right now.
VegetableEsoup that's interesting, how are your DC now? Actually i have another thread about my older Dd who has a limp and various symptoms that I've been worrying about being linked to something else . Dd1 has many medical issues and I tend to assume dd2 is fine !

used2bthin i saw the post about your older child ...how is it going? my son actually has dyspraxia and his legs and tight hamstrings are a result of this but constantly fidgets when sat down. might be worth looking into a second opinion.

Used2bthin · 27/11/2015 14:32

Thanks Snert. She's certainly no better but isn't on top form today anyway after a night of tummy ache and an eye infection. She had to come downstairs on her bottom this morning Sad been to the GP about the eye but need to wait for the specialist now aboit the mobility issues I think . Hope it isn't long.

That was about Dd1 but that's interesting about your DS and fidgeting . Dd1 used to struggle to sit still but has a disc thing to wobble her feet on now which helps . Maybe I need to try similar with dd2! She doesn't seem to have any signs of dyspraxia (dd1 does ) but she def has some sensory issues-wears socks inside out so she can't feel the seams!
