MMR vaccine reaction or something else?

DD had her 12 month MMR vaccine 9 days ago. Today she has a raging temperature (thermometer has given up the ghost and can't get out just yet to replace it so don't have a number). She is bright red and hot all over and just in a vest. She is very very sleepy. Not at all herself. Full of cold. Barely eaten anything all day. Does this sound like a normal reaction to the MMR or something else?

Just found a different thermometer and her temperature is 39.1, that's an hour after calpol

I seem to remember exactly the same thing happening to DS, and it was 9 or 10 days post-vac.

Keep doing what you're doing, if temp hasn't gone down by tomorrow, or if she's not eating/drinking and no wet nappy in 12hr then straight to A&E.

I think DS's was over within 36-48 hours.

Thanks. Thought it was probably normal but always nice to have some reassurance

I think I also freaked out but was helped by others in my mums group who had theirs done around the same time and kids had same reaction.

Any sort of temp means worrying for us Mums!

But do keep an eye on her, and if any signs of dehydration, floppy, unresponsive, straight to A&E. Better to be sent home and considered a bit anxious than the other way around...

How is DD today?

The MMR vaccination can have side effects up to 6 weeks post the date of having it.
