Baby Reflux

My 12 week old has silent reflux. He was prescribed baby gaviscon however as he is BF it is difficult for him to take. I mix it all and then I have to syringe 30 ml of liquid in his mouth that he just spits out. He will take 5 ml no problem but 6 baby syringes of this stuff is too much for him. Any other medications available? Confused

If the gaviscon isn't any good (it rarely is tbh) then you could ask for ranitidine or omeprazole. Ranitidine didn't work for my dd, omeprazole was a godsend once we got the correct dosage at 7 months of age. She's still on it now at 14 months and hasn't had any problems since around a week after starting the higher dose.

I hope you get sorted soon, silent reflux is an absolute bastard so you have my sympathy.

Thank you Kim82 - are these medications liquid formula or granules you have to mix?

Ranitidine is liquid. Omeprazole does come in both tablet and liquid form. The liquid omeprazole is incredibly expensive and it is very hard to get a prescription for it, most people I know who have it for their children have it in tablet form which they dissolve. We've managed to get lucky, however, and get it in liquid form for our dd as for some reason the tablets didn't work as well for her. It's around £200 per bottle which lasts for 2 weeks, that's why they are loathe to prescribe it.
