4 month old baby dribbling his antibiotic medicine back out.

4 month old DS2 has been prescribed amoxycillin in liquid form for a suspected bladder infection. I'm using a syringe to squirt it into his cheek- 2.5ml, 3x a day- and quite often, at least half of this bright yellow gloop comes dribbling back out, Exorcist- stylee Hmm.

Any tips on getting him to swallow it would be much appreciated- and also, what could happen if he's only taking half a dose each time? I'm worrying about creating more antibiotic resistant bacteria to rampage around the place!

Hellooo, I haven't had to use antibiotics, but my DD is very reluctant to take calpol...I tried a syringe squirting it fast,slow...just impossible. So I used a spoon, much easier! I just put her in a bouncer and spoon medicine in, I can catch it if she spits it out and put it back in!

What are the antibiotics for?? If it is an infection just do the dose you need, especially with ear infections etc (those are too painful to live with).

I knew soem parents who were given antibiotics for coughs, just coughs...coughs are viruses and will not respond to antibiotics.

Hope this helps :)
