Feet turning out and falling over

DS is 16m and his feet turn out, more so his right foot. He falls over a LOT. Last week we were at minor injuries with a bad bump to the head and I took him there again today for another head bump but the wait was enormous and after we'd been there an hour the bump had gone and he seemed fine was causing chaos in the waiting room so, faced with another hour of waiting with a tantruming toddler we left and I've got him booked in with the GP this afternoon to check him over. I'm getting worried about the amount of injuries he's having and why he's falling over ALL the time. Has anyone had similar and had any success getting to see an OT/podiatrist/someone else? I have mentioned it to the dr before who just said that as he can walk it doesn't meet the criteria for nhs help Hmm

my eldest son had a problem with hyper mobile hip joints which caused his feet to turn out. Do not accept what this dr is saying. Go to another dr.

We had something similar with ds1 and it turned out he was double jointed but it fixed itself over time and by 2 his foot was looking straight
Ds2 is similar all the tests again same reason , Orthopeadics told me to just wait and it will go back

Ask your gp for referral for an orthopaedic consultasnt

That was my Ds2. Didn't walk until 18m because his feet turned out and would roll forward, making him topple. Then when he did walk he had SO many accidents. He was famous for his accidents. He was diagnosed as being hypermobile which I think played a large part in his many falls.

After two trips to A and e in as many months with Ds 1 (supposedly the coordinated one) I just realised today that DS 2 seems to have outgrown all of this. He is much more coordinated, he still has big flat feet but they don't turn out, he isn't noticeably more accident prone than his friends now, at age 8. Your DS may well outgrow it all too.

Thank you for the replies. His cousin has hypermobility I wonder if it runs in the family - but DH and I are most certainly not in any way flexible! After 2 trips to minor injuries in 1 week falling and hurting his head the Dr has said if it hasn't improved in a month she will refer. I have also made an appointment with a private podiatrist for a gait analysis - is that likely to be helpful? He fell and scraped his head in 2 places today so in the space of 2 weeks he has 4 injury marks on his forehead/face :-( I just feel so sorry for him being hurt all the time it must be horrible but he's fiercely independent and won't let me use reins or hold his hand. He just sits down and screams.
