dc has a chronic condition and is on long term ibuprofen for it.

no prescription, gp only said to buy it Hmm

I'm a bit concerned for dc's stomach and wonder if I should approach gp for omeprazole prescription?

If the GP has recommended it, and he takes it with food / milk stick with it. Would omeprazole do the same job???? I wouldn't have thought so. So your suggesting taking more drugs long term in case?? Not my first choice.

dc will be on ibu for a long time. years possibly. all people I know who take it for longer than 2 weeks are kn omeprazole as well.

Is the chronic condition monitored by a specialist? There is no way anyone should be on anti-inflammatories long term without a stomach protector like omeprazole. I'm surprised that the GP hasn't flagged this up. Confused

specialist send us back to gp with recommendation to give ibu.
gp said they don't prescribe it (fair enough at 40p per week). ome was never mentioned.

Fair enough not to prescribe but wrong to not make you aware of the GI side effects. I'm quite surprised because over the years, more and more research has come to light about NSAIDs.
