My friend in Australia's 9 year old son who is seriously disabled had his wheelchair tipped forward onto his face by a carer and has 3 of his beautifully aligned adult teeth knocked out.

Her dentist has said because her son doesn't eat orally and is mostly non verbal he would be better off with a denture as any alternative would need a GA. he has had them in the past and copes well with them.

I will not even go into what I think of the so called carer Sad

What would anyone advise or anyone with a similar experience?

My DD has SEN though she is active, eats normally and talks. She fractured an adult tooth and had to have the adjacent adult one removed as the root of that was also fractured. The fracture one that was left was build up with a composite so it looks cosmetically fine and is functional. The fractured root tooth was removed under GA and a baby tooth next to it too, to give space for adjacent adult teeth to come through as swiftly as possible. She wears a brace to keep her teeth in position and keep the gap open for now. They may shift teeth across in time (and reshape if necessary for cosmetics) or she may eventually have an implant when old enough. She so far has been amazingly tolerant of the work she has needed despite having ASD and some sensory issues.

Well, knocked out teeth need to be reimplanted within an hour, to have any chance of success. Then will require months of treatment, so I have to tend to agree with the dentist in Oz. All things considered unfortunately I think it was the best decision.
