Cleaning teeth - before or after milk?

Hi, can someone help resolve a discussion between my DH and I?

At the moment, DS (17mo) has a drink of milk before bed. This is after we've cleaned his teeth. DH is fine with this because he remembers reading somewhere that milk won't hurt DS's teeth. But it doesn't seem quite right to me, surely there is sugar in milk and we should be cleaning DS's teeth AFTER he has had his milk?

Any info or advice welcome!

Many thanks.

I always brushed teeth afterwards - lactose is sugar, after all.

Our dentist recommended milk then brush teeth preferably asap, but it's more prudent after 2. We've just managed to swap dd to milk then teeth at 2.9, try it sooner!!

Milk then do teeth but not straight away

I knew it! Now to convince DH (and DS, which is probably harder!!)

Thank you!

Back up, why not straight away *demented'?!
We literally do pjs, milk, bed.. Should I change this?

Pjs, milk, teeth, bed.. Obviously Confused

I think it's something to do with baby teeth being a bit too sensitive to deal with milk and then cleaning straight away.

Happy to be corrected, if wrong!

We do milk, procrastinate, bath, dry and dressed, procrastinate/stories, asthma inhaler, brush teeth, bed. We do it this way so that we're leaving it as long as possible after milk before teeth. No one should be brushing their teeth within 30-45 mins after sugar/acid as it weakens your enamel and then brushing damages the enamel.
