Hello,
I hope you do not mind me posting here but I wanted to highlight a rare hormonal congenital condition called Kallmann syndrome.
Its primary symptom is delayed or absent puberty and can also be associated with a lack of sense of smell along with sometimes hearing and dental problems.
Often patients, such as myself, are dismissed as "late developers" or "late bloomers" when we try to seek medical advice.
While the age puberty starts does vary a lot this condition is often overlooked as a possible cause of pubertal failure (lack of menstruation in girls by the age of or lack of testicular development in boys by 15).
The condition is rare and sometimes teenagers are just delayed and everything will develop normally. However in some cases this does not happen and patients with this condition are still labelled as "late developers" well into their late teens or early 20's. Late diagnosis of this condition can cause psychological problems as people feel left behind both physically and emotionally.
I did not see the term "Kallmann" when I searched this site so I thought I would write this post just to highlight it is a possible cause of late or absent puberty.
