4yo DD with what looks like acne

My 4 yo DD has developed, in the last week, several small areas of spots which look like small pimples. She says they are a bit itchy but she isn't scratching them at all. They are white, not red. No pus (sorry sporners).

She has no history of skin issues at all. No other sign of illness though the crack behind her ear is a bit raw, as sometimes happens. I am disinfecting that and keeping it clean and I assume it will heal, as it has done in the past.

She had a mozzy bite in her hair which went a bit swollen, but has cleared up.

Any idea what the little patches of spots are? They are all on her face BTW - nearish the eyes and on the forehead. Nothing round the chin.

Could it be impetigo? Best go to GP for a 4 yr old.

LIZS · 04/09/2015 17:04

Agree impetigo. She would need ab cream if so as very contagious.

MimiLaBonq1 · 04/09/2015 18:28

It doesn't look like impetigo, it is hard to describe without pictures. Sorry. I will see if I can get a picture of her tomorrow and pop that up.

Eczema can be bumpy. My DS had the follicular variety which can be very lumpy and also gets cracks behind his ears. You could try some 1% hydrocortisone (make sure you don't get actually in her eyes) and an emollient, but probably best to see GP

My DD had eczema like that. I assume you've def ruled out e.g. Chicken pox blisters?

Ktmummy1 · 04/09/2015 20:57

Could it be milia ? Look it up, sounds a bit like what you describe.

MimiLaBonq1 · 05/09/2015 09:37

Thanks for your answers

I will try my other kid's eczema treatment maybe by the ear thing but the others seem to be dying down today.

Def not chicken pox. She hasn't been exposed to it and is vaccinated anyway.

Will Google Milia thanks I hadn't heard of that one.

Molliscum?

MimiLaBonq1 · 05/09/2015 20:18

Thanks. Doesn't look like that either. And it is clearing up. I am looking for other symptoms but no fever, no change in appetite, no behavioural changes other than school related tiredness.

Might remain a mystery. I will definitely get her seen if anything seems off.

Thanks for all your ideas.
