Squint Surgery - Worried about GA

My son is 3.8yrs and is due to have surgery to correct the squint in his right eye which has a 75% over turn. I have known that surgery was required for the last 18 months but now we have a pre op assessment booked I am starting to panic.
Has anyone had any experience of this surgery? I am so worried about him going under general anaesthetic that I have started having nightmares.

My son had squint surgery. He was 18 months old roughly at the time. I was worried about the GA but it was fine. He is now 5. In the meantime, he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He had a general anaesthetic for his MRIs, his surgery, and then on each day he underwent proton beam therapy (30 days of treatment). In total he has had about 45 general anaesthetics.

He is fine and well - with no ill effects from the anaesthesia. Please don't worry about 1 GA. They are very safe.

I had squint surgery when I was 10. I remember it was quite painful when I woke up and I had to have drops several times a day for a week or so afterwards. No ill effects from the anaesthetic. My eyes are now perfectly straight.
