Once-a-day sun cream?

I've seen this mentioned on MN a few times but not really paid much attention because I tend to keep the DC out of the sun for the hottest part of the day anyway. We're going to the beach on Saturday though & plan to be there most of the day so I'm thinking if I can get something to put on once it'll be a lot less faff than trying to pin them down multiple times! Trouble is, DS1 (3yo) has ASD & is a nightmare when it comes to putting on creams - is there one that goes on fairly easily? I'm dreading trying to apply it while he writhes & screams like I'm rubbing him with sodium hydroxide. He's always fine right after, unless it feels sticky/slimy, it's mostly just the rubbing he hates.

I use the Boots Soltan once a day 50spf for my two. Ds hates having it, or any sunscreen, put on him, but as he's almost translucent, we just have to bribe battle through. In spite of its promises though, I'd be topping up at least once during the day.

Just thought, could you get a uv suit? You'd just have to do the sticking out bits then...

Piz Buin is expensive, but does not need re-applying. Make sure you put it on 20 minutes before going in the sun. Did my two very well all day without a second layer in various hot countries.

Just back from holiday and used P20 factor 50 on blue eyed, blonde haired DD and 10month old DS, was 39 degrees some days and no redness or burns at all. Non sticky, clear spray which was super easy to apply even to the little wriggle monster! Thought it was well worth the money

Only applied once a day too!

We use P20 in factor 50, and once its on its fine, not sticky at all and really does last all day, even on me and I burn very easily. While you are putting it on the smell isn't great but it doesn't last imo.

We've used Calypso once a day factor 30 for the past couple of years - in both the UK and abroad and none of us have ever burned, despite being in and out of the sea/pool. Best of all it's only about £5!
