She's just gone back to bed after waking an hour ago crying. I've had a look and she does look a bit red and swollen but there's no injury that I can see. I've asked if it hurts when she wees but she says no, it just stings and hurts all the time, she keeps scratching. :(

She has to wear pyjama pants at night because she wets so I wonder if this could be causing the problem. I've just let her go to bed with pants on so that she's more comfortable.

I'm going to get her into the doctors asap, but does anyone know what could be causing this?

Thrush?

Yamahaha · 19/06/2015 23:11

Do you have some sudocrem from when she was younger? That will act as a barrier to ease the itch so she can sleep. Poor girl.

Littlefish · 19/06/2015 23:12

Could she have worms?

HerrenaHarridan · 19/06/2015 23:12

Maybe her pants rode up while she was sleeping and made her start scratching.

If it's still sore in the morning nhs 24.

Poor wee thing

StupidBloodyKindle · 19/06/2015 23:15

Thrush?
Cystitis might come next if irritated more
So an anti-fungal cream like Multilind (do not know the uk brandname) would help

Eigg · 19/06/2015 23:15

I'd think worms too. If so it's usually only a single tablet to sort it out.

If you can't see any evidence of worms in the loo, pop to the docs tomorrow.

Haggisfish · 19/06/2015 23:16

Thrush or worms, too.

usualsuspect333 · 19/06/2015 23:16

Yep I would treat for worms anyway. Thrush is easily treated also.

Poor thing.. Keep the bottoms on just in case it is worms.

TheStitchWitch · 19/06/2015 23:24

Thanks everyone, she's managed to get to sleep now, I did put some sudocrem on which she said helped a little. She was like this about a year ago and I took her to the gp, they thought it was a uti, tested and it came back clear. I'll take her to the walk in centre tomorrow and find out what's going on.

Did you go to the doctor today after? I'm asked my as my 4yr old dd is awake and crying for the same thing. I don't know what to do to help to her.

ButEmilylovedhim · 20/06/2015 21:54

When DD has this we treat for worms even though there's nothing to see anywhere. Since we've been doing that she's only ever had the first night of terrible discomfort and then is absolutely fine the nights after that. Before we did it as routine we would have many nights of her crying, then think better treat for worms and then she would be right as rain. Hope you can get it sorted. Might equally be thrush, sensitivity to bubble bath etc.

ButEmilylovedhim · 20/06/2015 22:02

Hi Ilove. If you've got worm medicine give her a dose. If not, some sudocrem or any soothing cream applied can help and makes them feel like you're doing something! We've also given calpol in the past as there seems to be real pain and that's a good placebo too. Otherwise just calm her down, read stories, cuddle, distract and eventually she'll sleep and then it's the next day and you can get worm medicine if you think it's that. We also got cream for thrush from the GP to cover all bases. Bless her! Hope she's feeling better soon.
