Chicken pox pitted marks not going away

My daughter had chicken pox starting April 14th. All her scabs had fallen off by May 2nd. They were mainly on her face, the weather was hot and at night, as she turned in bed, they fell off. She has about 20 very noticeable pitted circular pockmarks on her face, mainly her forehead but a few also on her cheeks and eyelids. They are so obvious still. My daughter is 2yrs 9 months. Basically, I am feeling very upset about how marked her skin is, people constantly comment on the marks-"oh she looks like she's had chicken pox!" Everywhere I take her. I know they are only empathising but it's getting me down. Do these marks go? How long does it take? They are still quite pink, and pitted, even now 8-10 weeks later, please share your experiences.

My 16 yr old still has a few - white depressed circles - which I can find because I know where to look for them. He had CP at about 20 months I think. The scars haven't ever bothered him as far as I know.

@Ktmummy1 Hey, I know this thread is years old but I wondered if your daughters pitted pox scars have improved? My daughters are the same and I am beyond devastated. The face is covered in large pitted dents 🥺 its so upsetting to see. Xx

Aw Hannah, I’m sorry and I know how you feel. The appearance has improved a fair bit and softened, but the dents are still there I’m afraid. She’s still only 10 and I’m hopeful that through her teenage years they may soften further.

@Ktmummy1 Thank you so much for replying. Did you use anything on them a cream or oil etc? My daughter is 3, we're 4 weeks post chicken pox and the pitted dents are really bad. 🥺

I used everything I could, bio oil, cocoa butter etc but the only thing that helped was time. The scars are still there and pretty visible to me, she does ask about them sometimes and I just tell her what they are and play it down. She did have a particularly bad case of chicken pox.

@Ktmummy1 Hi, I know this is an old thread but do you have an update on your little ones pitted scars? My daughter had CP 3 weeks ago and her face was covered in really big nasty deep pox, she scratched a few off as toddlers do but even the ones she didn't have left light pink crater type holes which are so upsetting. I tried absolutely everything to ensure it was the perfect healing enviroment. Her perfect face is full of crater type sunken marks 😥 I'm beyond devastated 💔 I wondered if you could post an update please? 💔
