Does teething hurt for adult teeth?

DS is 6 and so far has lost 2 teeth, lower front. This week he has been intermittently complaining that one of his molars hurts, sensitive when he chews etc. Seems to get better with Calpol.

He had a check up last month and was given a clean bill of dental health. I've had a look in his mouth and can't see anything.

Could it be an adult tooth niggling away?

Sensitivity was a normal symptom for me, so I'd say it was possible.

It hurt when I got my wisdom teeth in, if that helps. :)

I was going to say the same as womble - my wisdom teeth were painful coming through.

I think it can definitely hurt. And one of my wisdon teeth caused me terrible pain - only one of them and only briefly - but I needed aspirin to get to sleep cos it hurt so much, then I was woken by the pain when the aspirin wore off, and had to take more in the middle of the night. It was rubbish!
