Does my 6 yr old need to go to Enuresis Clinic?

DS has been trying hard to be dry at night. Things seemed to turn around about a month ago but he wets the bed about once every 10 nights or so. We were put on a 10 week wait for a enuresis clinic with the appointment on June 11th. I'm not sure if we still need to go. Are there any wise people here who can tell me whether we would have anything to gain at this point. If we are going to cancel, I'd like to give them some notice.

My 6.5 year old ds is wet every night and everything I've read has told me that that is entirely normal.

I certainly wouldn't be concerned about once ever 10 days!

Wow you are lucky getting an appointment at 6 most counties don't even think about it until at least 7 !

Anyway, yes I would keep the appointment.

Have you tried a wet stop alarm ? Worked wonders for my ds

I would take the appointment just so you are not automatically discharged. One night in ten is great though and does sound like he is becoming dry at night.

Thanks for the responses. I think I might call them first as I don't want to appear that we are time wasting.

I worried like you and we took our daughter to the clinik. They were sympathetic and pleasent to deal with. Our daughter was very quiet. She did not appear to have difficulties with the subject being discussed in front of her, or even the physical examination. However everything was inconclusive and I would say it was of very little practical benefit. It also tended to increase our anxiety and this was especially difficult as our relationship was under great strain already (this may have contributed to the urinary control or lack of it).She did grow out if it over the next year. With the benefit if hind sight I think we should have given the clinic a miss.

My DS still wets in the day and night so completely different to your DS, but we've got help for the daytime wetting but were told wetting at night up the age of 8 is considered in the normal range, and they wouldn't consider treating night time wetting until DS was at least over 8.

So I wouldn't be worried at all about your DS, but it might help to go along to the appointment just to see if they suggest anything you'd not tried.
