Vomiting with chest infection?

My DD (2y 2m) had a bit of a cold last week. Started vomiting Monday, was really bad Monday morning then settled down a bit later on but had a temperature of 38. 5, I thought it was just a bug. No vomiting Tuesday but had a bit of diarrhoea and didn't eat much. Temp back to normal.

She slept very late yesterday morning, then asked for some milk which she brought straight back up. Took her to the doctor's who diagnosed a chest infection and prescribed antibiotics, said the vomiting was normal and would settle down.

However it hasn't settled down. I know it's only been a day but she has barely eaten now since Sunday and what she had eaten she's thrown up. She has been drinking and has produced wet nappies (not as many as usual), but she is bringing up most of her liquids as well. She is sleeping a lot more than usual.

Does anyone have any advice? I don't know how worried I should be! She didn't move off of the sofa Monday, Tuesday she seemed fine, yesterday she was sick but still wanted to play, today she has fallen asleep on the floor and just wants to cuddle. She followed me upstairs earlier and seemed totally exhausted (although she does have a chest infection). Does this sound normal? I've never known her vomit for more than a day or so :/

I take it she's just started on the anti-b 's? That's going to take about 24/48hrs to kick in (and take the full course). So you need to focus on if she's improved since starting the medication.

If no better in 2 days I would go back.

Poor little thing, hope she feels brighter soon.

I'd also avoid milk/dairy for a few weeks. I would suggest ready salted crisps as they have salts, carbs and fats and taste nice!

Yes she started them yesterday afternoon so she's only been on them a day. Her cough sounds more productive today, hopefully that's a good sign? And maybe why she's being sick too... although she isn't coughing herself sick. I can tell when she feels sick now because she goes quiet and starts breathing a bit heavier, and wants to puke down my top cuddle.

Have you had a reasonable evening Fanjo?
Hope so, if more vomit I think I'd return to the Doctor.

But fingers crossed its peaceful and sweet dreams at yours.
