One of my three year olds has them. I am really trying not to be totally grossed out but she must be infested with them. They are crawling out of her bum and I just saw two in her vagina but she's in so much pain she wouldn't let me wipe them away.
I realised what the problem was last night on the third night waking and we all took metronidazole this morning. Anyone know how long it takes to work? She's woken up again and has been sitting on the loo for the past hour and twenty minutes with diarrhoea, which she's had the other three nights too. Is this normal?

When the diarrhoea stops sit her in a bath full of warm salty water. It will kill the worms that have come out and be soothing at the same time.
I remember having worms as a kid - it's horrible.

She'll probably feel more comfortable tomorrow. If she's been showing symptoms for days then the eggs are likely all over the house. Remember to damp clean everywhere to pick them up and change the beds.

Ugh! I've boil washed all the bedding today and just damp wiped the bathroom but go over everything again tomorrow. She's a finger sucker which I assume is where this has come from.
Running a bath now. Thank you both!

Repeat, repeat repeat everything you have been doing and take the medication again next week. If possible cut her nails as short as you can too. My DD (7) has suffered with this on and off for a year. We have no clue where they come from.

You need to do the rest of the house.. All door handles, remotes, toys etc and get fanatical with hand washing for a while at least.

Worm her again in a week and keep a ready supply of stuff in the cupboard so you can treat straight away next time.

Thanks everyone. Wrote this last night but never got around to posting it, fingers crossed for no wake ups tonight....

She's in the bath now, happy as Larry and showing no signs of wanting to go to bed but I do!
Should we worm again in one or two weeks? I've heard both and the chemist said we didn't need to at all - but I will be.
She was read the riot act (nicely) today about finger sucking and hand washing and has been stopping herself putting them in her mouth, not sure how long that will last though.
