Skin problems after scarlet fever

I don't know if anyone can help? My DS1 had scarlet fever 3 weeks ago and was very poorly. After misdiagnosis by the doctor he was finally diagnosed by OOO doc at the end of the 3rd day and put on a 10 day course of antibiotics. The rash went but in the past 2 weeks a similar raised itchy rash had appeared in the same areas along with what looks like a fungal infection on his back and then in the past 2 days he now has a nasty sore patch in the corner of his mouth. We saw the doc last week who thought it was eczema probably from being run down although he's not normally prone to it, so she gave us some cream and some antifungal stuff for his back. In a week things haven't improved and now this sore on his mouth is starting. Am I being paranoid or has anyone had experience of skin complications after scarlet fever? I just feel that somethings not right but not sure if I should wait it out a bit.

Hi just wanted to say that my ds had scarlet fever last year and it took along time for skin to be normal. Took him backwards and forwards a few times. Was given diprobase which helped enormously but you should never worry about going back to the GP. I kept questioning them as everyone else I knew said the rash had cleared up very quickly but his went on for ages.

Thank you for your response, that's reassuring to know it's not just us with issues. We ended up at OOO docs on Saturday and he confirmed Impetigo around his mouth and the rash on his back is something called pityriasis rosea. There's nothing we can do about the rosea and it can last up to 12 weeks apparently but he's got a course of antibiotics for the impetigo. Doc said both probably came from the scarlet fever and because he's a bit run down. Poor lad had only just got over chicken pox a few weeks before the scarlet fever came along. Hopefully he'll get a break now!
