Hi,

Our 5 month old baby has had a rash for the last 4 weeks. We have taken him to the dr's and they have just said it blanches and is some sort of viral infection. In the last week he has now developed very dry / flaky skin (as well as the original rash). We have taken him to the dr again and they just want to keep an eye on it and given us a moisturiser - which may solve the problem - but I want to be 100% certain. We suspect it is Eczema, but its quite bad and seems to be getting worse. I would rather see a specialist to be honest.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a dermatologist close to Redhill in Surrey? I have looked but I cant seem to find anything - or if anyone has experienced something similar?

Thanks,

:-)

DS had very sens skin as baby. It wasn't eczema more just a regular bumpy rash whenever he was warm, had contact with soap, creams most things really. We noticed it early on when DH washed his baby grows in our normal powder and softener while we were still in hospital and we saw an instant effect after wearing them. A rash where the baby grow contacted the skin followed by the skin drying and flaking.
Persil non bio gel/liquid was the only thing I could use to wash clothes and absolutely no softener. Most baby baths and products were off limits. And some disposable nappies. Also if you use hand cream and products on your own hands remember that they can irritate babies skin when you bath them.
It's worth excluding detergents to make sure but if it doesn't improve a referral to dermatologist is a good idea. If you have recently started to wean it could be a reaction to new foods. It is not necessarily an allergy but would be an idea to discuss this with your GP.

Hi. If LO's skin is still dry and flaky, try using Baby Stella's Cream. It should work a treat!
