dd's migranes

when dd was about 9 she suffered from terrible headaches, after numerous doctor visits and hospital visits no one could sort the problem. When she was about 13 they eventually stopped. Now she's 16 and gets them around 4 days a week and most evenings. They have been re-diagnosed as migranes. She has tried every medication under the sun as well as things like tiger balm, 4 head but the only thing that seems to work is a cold flannel and sleeping in a dark room, however it getting to the point where it is affecting her school work. I feel the GP has either given up or does not believe us. Has anyone else had this, how do you cope with the upset/anger they cause? Should I consider taking her somewhere private how much would it cost?

Will GP refer to a neurologist?

They could then do more investigations into what it could be, try out different medications and of all else fails refer on to a specialist headache unit who only take referrals from neurologists. They deal with really tricky cases and know an awful lot more than the average GP.

I hate it when GPs fob you off. Your Dd doesn't have to live like this.
