Is it Possible for an 8yo to have Halitosis?

dS2 has had a couple of fillings and had 2 teeth out.

We brush his teeth twice a day and use a childrens mouthwash but he often has bad breath, smelling IMO of a typical halitosis smell.

Tonsil stones?

I would get him checked at the doctors, and if nothing there, go back to the dentist. IMO not normal at any age.

Thanks I've never heard of tonsil stones.

We're going to the dentist on Wednesday so might get to the bottom of it.

Has he shoved anything up his nose?

Crossfitmyarse · 14/04/2015 03:38

Does he have a furry build up on his tongue? Or a problem with his sinuses?

BaconAndAvocado · 14/04/2015 11:18

No to all the above.

I was going to suggest tonsil stones too. They smell AWFUL! You can sometimes see them - little white things in the crevices of the tonsils. I used to get them if I ate a lot of dairy products.

Sometimes dehydration can be the culprit too.

Thanks all. We definitely need to,get to the bottom of it!

Hopefully the dentist will shed some light tomorrow.

That seems a lot of teeth problems so young ?

Also I was always taught to eat breakfast or I'd have bad breath. DS 3.5 always seems to have garlic breath, but then we do eat a lot of pasta and the sauces always have garlic in. Grin

almost I know! it's a constant source of embarrassment.

I just wondered if it was linked to some underlying issue but I'm not a dentist !
