Advice about vomiting baby

DS (9 months) went to bed at 7 fine but woke up an hour ago vomiting. His cot and sleeping bag were covered so have stripped him, cleaned him up and put everything in the wash. He's been sick again a few times since and I can hear his belly gurgling but he's just fallen asleep on me on the sofa.

Do I sit up with him all night?

Sounds silly but I really don't know what to do!

DP has come home drunk so he's no help.

I would keep him with you (sleep next to him) and apply layers of towels to your bed so if he pukes you can peel them off and have a fresh one underneath (stick them into bin bag until washing machine is free again).
Fleece blankets are good too if you have them (and also absorbent 'bed mats').
I found it really difficult to 'catch' the puke in bowl / bucket when they're so little, it was easier just to use towels to try and protect beds / furniture / carpets.

Offer little and often drinks to keep him hydrated (and don't forget scrupulous handwashing to try and avoid spread of the pukey bug).

Good luck, hope he's better v soon.

I would be inclined to send dp to sleep elsewhere and put ds in your bed on top of a thick towel. Make sure he's not under the duvet as he probably has a temperature anyway. Make sure he won't fall off the bed. Calpol if he has a temperature. That way you have him at your fingertips and can administer sips of water or BM or mop puke whilst dozing a little yourself. If you've had a drink yourself you should not bed share though.

No drinking here and dp has passed out on sofa. I'm on the other sofa with ds asleep on me - don't want to move him quite yet while he's settled. He's woken a couple of times to be sick and I've just caught it in a towel but he's gone straight back to sleep. He's got lots of bottom wind too.

Thanks for the tips about towels etc. I've got loads of towels/blankets he can sleep on.

There is a DnV bug going about. We have been using lots of towels just as everyone has suggested, and the washing machine has been going at full tilt. Hope he gets better soon.

Just as everybody else has said use lots of towels. Lots of water/juice. Only give him dry food like bread, biscuits (sugar is good for them) which absorb the vomit from the inside. Just the milk would be ok too for now! As a doctor told us once "at this age babies can survive for days with just water, so don't worry about the (not) eating bit for now".
