Getting dd to drink her medicine?!

DD (3) has just been given sachets to help her constipation. I need to mix two packets of powder with 30ish ml of water each and get her to drink them. She isn't that great at drinking water anyway and can't stand this. Any ideas?
Tonight I got her to drink nearly half by using a combination of different cup, beaker, cool straw, chocolate drop for every gulp, no pudding until you've had three more gulps. I'm exhausted and have no idea what to do to get her to have more tomorrow...

Mix it with abit of juice?

Thesimplethings · 02/04/2015 22:56

Movicol? Get the plain one and mix it in juice or squash. I believe it's 62mls of liquid per sachet.

Well, I think that stuff is disgusting, so I'd give her whatever it takes tbh.

I once had to give ds 3 miniature heroes per teaspoon of antibiotic medicine that was vile. But he just needed to get better.

Just use juice. brush teeth after.

stuff anyone else's opinion of not drinking water.

Mix it with yoghurt.

Jennifersrabbit · 02/04/2015 23:02

Oh gosh, give it in some squash. When DD first had it I believed the leaflet about it being tasteless in water. Then I tried it Smile

She has hers in blackcurrant squash although her regular drink is water.

babybouncer · 02/04/2015 23:05

DD is ridiculously stubborn and won't even try squash. Would it work in chocolate milk, do you think?

My son has chronic constipation he also has autism and learning difficulties and wouldnt drunk it no matter what I put it in I made ice lollies with it ,it didn't really work with my son but it may work with your daughter I also mixed it with food and cereal etc you do have to have it with water but I was told as long as he had the sachets and then the equivalent water it was fine I know how you feel it was awful ds ended up in hospital having two enemas Sad I hope it gets sortedFlowers

Yup, this leaflet from Western Sussex hospitals says it's ok to mix with milk, water, squash or fruit juice

binspin · 03/04/2015 18:36

It's fine to mix with milk shake.

Bless her, it's horrible.

babybouncer · 03/04/2015 20:37

Aha! Mixed in milk and drunk with a chocolate straw - success! I've never seen her drink anything so quickly.
