Am I doing everything I can for my DS with chickenpox

DS is 2 & he has chicken pox. I'm getting a bit stressed about it because I'm worried I'm not doing what we should be and that he might end up scarred or something.

This is what we're doing:
Calpol if hot or bothered;
Piriton at regular intervals;
Poxclin mousse as often as DS will allow (which is a nightmare as he doesn't like having it put on);
Regular fluids.

Anything i'm missing??

An electric fan. Sitting in the draught from it really helps.

Thanks, he's over the worst of it now so just continuing with the poxclin

I had this as an adult and I can tell you that bicarbonate of soda in the bath provided the most amazing relief.

Dd had it at around same age. Virasoothe was brilliant.

oats or bicarbonate of soda in the bath are supposed to help

I agree bicarbonate of soda in a bath helped ds probably in part due to it being distracting! Calpol every six hours, as I believe they still feel uncomfortable even if not running a temperature. Ashe had virasooth but if he wasn't keen we used calamine and glycerin , ds is three and said he preferred the calamine cream.

Kid just got over CP ladt Friday. Less than 50 spots, no fever, not really itchy. Used Piriton only 4 times in 6 days, each time before nap or night if saw kid scratching a bit, did not want kid to be too sleepy. Washed under lukewarm shower with Aveeno body wash (vit B helps with healing). Using Avene Cicalfate cream now on scabbing to prevent scars.
Hope your DC is not too uncomfortable.

Another vote for ViraSoothe - DS had a horrible case age 2 and he called this his 'tickle cream'.

Poor you - hope it's a quick recovery.
