Exhausted children, 2.5 and 4.5

The children seem to be utterly exhausted all the time in the last few weeks. They eat (reasonably) well and sleep approx 7.30 to 7, without much nighttime waking. DS (2.5) also sleeps 1.5-2 hrs during the day. They get a multivitamin when I think of it (4/5 times a week). They have both had growth spurts recently and with the better weather we've been playing outside more than inside, so lots of fresh air. I'm not sure why I'm posting really, I suppose I'm wondering if any other children are a bit wiped out at the moment?

Yes, mine, but they have both been very poorly since Jan so I have put it down to that.

We've had a few low grade viruses, and lots of runny noses, so maybe they are still feeling those effects. I hoped the spring would help us all feel better!

Do you have a carbon monoxide alarm? A carbon monoxide leak can cause tiredness. It's more likely to be due to them having viruses but just another thing to consider.

I had this at the end of last year with DD, she would have been just under 3 then. She was pale and seemed exhausted to me. I had a real bee in my bonnet about anemia. Ended up having blood tests for thyroid, iron count, loads of things. Absolutely nothing wrong with her at all. It must have been a virus she just took a long time throwing off.

So yes, I think sometimes they go through growth spurts or they take a long time to recover from what seems like a mild illness.

However I do have to say that my GP was lovely and was happy that if something was worrying me they'd run a bit of an MOT and just double check. It could be worth asking?

Nope, no CO alarm, but that's another reason to pick one up - thanks.

DS has been at the doctor more since the end of January than probably in his whole life, so she'll think I'm completely neurotic if I go back with another, "hmm, yeah, just a bit tired" appointment!

They are both in great form except when they turn into tired ratbags at 5pm so I'm probably worrying over nothing.

I'm possibly being a bit irrational about how tired they are and feeling massively guilty since my Dad asked about their Easter holidays from daycare and I had to explain that they'd be off the same couple of days I'm off work, and not the 10 days of school holidays their cousins have Sad
