DD (5) has been complaining of a sore throat the past few days - I gave her warm milk and honey. She said her throat was better yesterday. Her cheeks were a bit flushed yesterday, although she does have skin that's prone to be red/bumpy. She has been a bit grumpy over the past few days, but no temp, and children are sometimes grumpy aren't they? Anyway, off to school this morning, happy, then sent straight home by school due to symptoms. DH is bringing her to the doctor shortly. I am feeling so guilty that she has been coming down with something for days and I haven't really even noticed :( Her teacher and school nurse are brilliant and wouldn't send her home if not necessary. I always seem to think that the dc are just playing up and then realise that actually they aren't well at all only when they throw up or temp rockets. Bad bad and guilty mother. What should I do to get better at this?

I'm a bit like you OP....a bit over-relaxed! It's the opposite of being too fussy and like you, I've felt guilty when I realised! I've got better at it recently because I've noticed that DD2 for instance...she gets very naughty right before she gets sick....she'll just get very unreasonable....and then a day later, she's down with something.

I also use a torch to look down throats for redness...honey and milk doesn't really do much....calpol is better by the way. Flowers
