projectile vomiting 1 year old but isn't unwell...

DD keeps vomiting but isn't unwell with it. It is often after coughing but not always, tends to be after 5pm and is always when sitting in high chair or lying in her cot.

It's the volume of sick that is puzzling me and the food appears completely undigested even 5-6 hours after eating it.

It's been going on for a few weeks now and we had a whole week of it not happening but then yesterday it's started again.

Has anyone else experienced this please?? There is never any diarrhea or fever and she seems perfectly well during the day.

Thanks in advance

Possibly but I honestly can't think of anything new she has had recently to suddenly be allergic to??

An allergy doesn't have to be something 'New'
the body can just reject a certain food / ingredient

Butterfly13 · 14/03/2015 17:50

Is she chewing her food?
Eating / Drinking to much?

LimesMum · 14/03/2015 19:42

Her sick does seem to have quite big lumps in it as if she doesn't chew properly but it's often a long time after eating that she throws up.

Today I withheld all dairy as a test....

You will need to withhold the possible intolerance /allergy foods for about 2 weeks to allow it to get through their bodies.

My DS2 used to projectile vomit. He also had reflux as a baby and I thought it was a continuation of that. I was totally wrong - it was a food intolerance.

Is your HV helpful? If so talk to to them or your Dr.

LimesMum · 14/03/2015 20:12

My Dr is completely useless, I've been to the surgery 5 times about this and each time seen a different Dr and been fobbed off pretty much!!!

Hadn't thought about the hv, good idea, I'll discuss with them.

Last night was the worst so far, it's just went on and on like a hose pipe!! Never knew such a little person could have that much inside them?!!

Poor little thing (and poor you).

Our Dr insisted it was viral (for 18months). It was the HV who rescued us and got us a referral.

I found it really hard but just keep believing that you will find out the cause, it will ease up and it will improve.

Keep a diary. And include stuff like any dry skin issues/reflux/ sleep issues etc. It helps build up a picture.

Let us know how things go, I hope you get help, and to the bottom of it soon.

my 1 and a half year old daughter had something similar a few months back. seemed to be in the eveing and during the night when she was and had been in bed that she wake up and projectile vomit everywere atleast twice in a row. woke atleast 3 times in the night. we took her to the docters after a couple of days and they just said it was a stomach bug (which to me and family it didnt seem like) they gave her anti biotix but it disnt help so took her back to the docters and they gave her a different flavour anti biotix but as she was being sick so much she wasnt keeping it down (she seemed her noraml self during the day) we took her back to the docters for the 3rd time after 9days of her throwing up and they then decided she had a urine infection and ear infection. told me to carry on trying with antibiotics and if she is sick 1 more time I needed to take her straight to great western hospital(swindon) so that she could have an iv/drip fitted. she was sick and I called 111 and they arranged an ambulance but I was on my own so scared to take her so in the end we didnt go to the hospital luckily she wasnt sick again and is still fine till now. but she was like that for just under 2weeks.

Our 5 month old girls have something similar. We thought they would grow out of it after by now, as they appear to have with colic and reflux. But they are still projectile vomiting almost every day. They seem to do it irrespective of whether their last feed was formula or breast milk, so I don't think it is my diet. We are starting to get really worried as one in particular is getting skinnier.
This mostly occurs in the evening, but can be first thing in the morning too. Sometimes they still are having real crying sessions where they seem to also be experiencing pain. It doesn't quite seem the same as colic 'though.
Any further advice would be great
