My 7 month old DD saw the opthamologist today and he said she is slightly longer sighted in one eye than the other and needs glasses. She was referred as she has a squint. My oldest DD (5) also has a squint, but hers isn't caused by visual defect but is just the eye muscles. The consultant thinks that DD2's squint is caused by the difference in the two eyes and that glasses will prevent the weaker eye becoming lazy. The difference is quite small, as is the degree of long-sightedness, so she is unlikely to feel much difference with the glasses on.
How in the blue blazes do you keep glasses on a baby, when she is clearly going to take them off and eat them??! Would love to hear any experiences of this. I am usually quite good with medics but I find this consultant quite impenetrable...
