I've just noticed today that ds (13) has developed a pigeon chest. He's had a recent growth spurt and says he noticed it a few weeks ago. I'll take him to the GP this week but would love to hear other peoples experiences of it and any non surgical interventions available in this country eg bracing. He's obviously self conscious about it and also very sporty so worried about how it might affect him. I'm a health professional but this isn't my area at all.

Thanks for taking the time to read this

My only experience of it was an ex of mine. He had this...it didn't bother him or me...I am unsure if it has any health connotations though.

Thanks MrsT . He's at a difficult age so is very self conscious. Will see what GP suggests

Is ths where the chest dips in?if so madthing3 has this. It has been commented on by drs but they are not bothered and it deosnt need treating unless severe enough to have physical impact which is rare.

Ds3 is a skinny, tall bean at just 10 and it is noticeable, he just jokes about it.

I think the treatment is quite a big deal ie operations, i know they do it for cosmetic reasons in the s but in the uk i would imagine it wpuld need to be for health reasons.

No harm getting it chekced out though, apparently it often becomes more noticeable during puberty as the body changes shape etc. We will have to watch ds3's durig puberty as its quite marked already.

Hi wondered what your go response was 're treatment. My son has had pc since birth but now he's a teenage is over self conscious about it.
