Head lice eggs

My daughter has long thick hair and she had a bad case of head lice. Although I seem to have got rid of all the lice. Combination of Derbac M and a 'nitty gritty' comb. But she has loads of white dots in her hair that seem to be stuck to her hair. I have got some out and there is nothing in them, so I don't believe they are live eggs. I'm confused about what they actually are, the only thing I can find from a google search is empty head lice eggs. If they are eggs, why am I having so much trouble getting them out.

Are you combing through with lashings of conditioner? That always works for my DC, I find the nits stick to the nitty gritty comb and after a couple of combs through, even with a really bad infestation, they're all gone.

I think they're empty egg sacs. They can be quite difficult to remove. I'd have thought lots of conditioner and the nitty gritty comb would get them eventually.

Agree conditioner by the bucket

The real eggs are little brown bits stuck to the hair within 1-2 cm of the skin (offhand, I think the lice lay the egg right on the follicle next to skin, and then the hair might grown as much as 2 cm before hatching out). You won't see the eggs without a very bright light to hand.

Removing eggs is Very Satisfying :).

I use about three bottles of conditioner to one of shampoo when the school are having head lice problems. The 'eggs' in question are really stuck hard to he hairs and so far the only thing that is shifting them is getting hold of a few hairs , soaking them in nail varish remover them using the comb. They are stuck so well she is in tears after 5 mins of trying to remove them.

I'll try and get a close up picture. I've even thought she might have got some glue in her hair.

yeah, that's headlice for you, days & days of combing out the Feckers. I think Hedrin only kills hatched out ones, so you're looking at multiple doses of that and still I wouldn't trust them to be gone unless I got to point that I just couldn't find them any more.

it seems she is clear of live lice this, I guess, is the empty eggs but they are really well stuck on.
