Chickenpox, despite vaccine?

Ds has some suspicious looking spots. He was vaccinated against chickenpox over a year ago, as he is disabled and has underlying health conditions.

Does anyone know anything about contracting chicken pox after the vaccine? I understand it is usually milder, but is it as contagious? Does it last as long?
Do the spots still come on 'crops'? (He is really upset about the spots, and there are only 5!)

Just found this info...from medscape

Children with breakthrough varicella occurring 42 days or more after receiving the vaccine usually develop milder disease with less fever and a maculopapular rash typically with fewer than 50 lesions (compared with a median of 300 lesions in unvaccinated children). These children also typically experience a faster recovery and have less risk for complications.[1,6-10] Lesions may not progress to vesicles and may not form crusts.[1] In fact, lesions in mild disease may look like insect bites.[10] In addition, immunized children with mild breakthrough disease are about two thirds less contagious than unimmunized children.[10] However, it should be noted that as many as 25% of children with breakthrough varicella may still present with symptoms similar to those in unvaccinated children.[1]

i dont know sorry but just checking you know you can get zovirax for cpx so might be worth checking with gp in case you need a prescription. did they ever blood test for immunity?

Thankyou both.

There are a couple more spots this morning and they look proxy to me, plus he is floppier than usual and has a mild temp. I've told the school and spoken to the gp, who said it should be over quickly and should be milder.

Fingers crossed!
